The Aspire training team are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to complete their Level 2 Childcare diploma with Buttercups Kindergarten during a 15 month apprenticeship with Buttercups Kindergarten in Calne, Wiltshire, with the possibility of progressing onto a Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship.


Buttercups Kindergarten in Calne are a small close knit family feel setting situated on a working dairy farm, that has been operational since 1993, and is proud of their large outdoor space and exceptional forest school, fresh farm house being served to all of the children during meal times.

The farm's new Forest School opened in September 2019.

Our Forest School is situated towards the back of the nursery inside the farm's paddock accompanied by incredible views of the Cherhill monument and fields as far as the eye can see.


Buttercups Kindergarten pride themselves on offering affordable childcare, and having a unique farm friendly atmosphere, which is welcoming and stimulating.


At Buttercups Kindergarten children are encouraged to explore the farm and get stuck in with farm life feeding the animals and splashing in puddles, whilst ensuring that all the children's needs are met and have the ability to express themselves and develop their key skills so that they can happily interact and learn with others.


This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to take their first steps towards a career in childcare, working in a fantastic childcare setting while learning from qualified, passionate and experienced childcare professionals.


Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Going for walks around the farm
  • Going for walks around the village
  • Arts and Crafts and Messy play
  • Keeping the setting clean and tidy
  • Supporting children with personal care
  • Believe in the environment and looking after it Sustainability is key to Buttercups
  • Take part in Mud boat and Mud kitchen activities
  • Following all health and safety policies and procedures
  • Keeping the children safe
  • Greeting parents on collection and drop off
  • Working as a team


Due to the nature of the role you will need to have excellent communication skills as you will be required to interact with parents to help support their children's development.


You must be reliable, hardworking, flexible and a good team player and you must be willing to learn and undertake training in order to gain your Level 2 NVQ in Childcare.

You must be able to gain a clear DBS, and have GCSE grades A-C in Maths and English Language (or equivalent i.e. functional skills).


If you do not have these grades you must be willing to work towards them as in the event you would like to progress onto a Level 3 Childcare Apprenticeship these are required upon completion of the Level 3.

As your role of Apprentice you must be willing to work outdoors and in all weathers, in addition to being happy and confident to work around animals all day,
