Base:

Reports to:

Hours of Work: 4 on 4 off rotation days/night shift pattern - 5.45am-6pm/5.45pm-6am

Main Purpose:


  • Ensure that production operations maximise output and minimise downtime safely through leadership of the KMD phase of production.
  • Optimise production performance in KMD to ensure that production targets are achieved in accordance to standard operating procedures.
  • Support the Production Supervisor and Operations Manager with regular communication and clear handovers to ensure continuous improvement and continuity between shifts.

Responsibilities:


  • Safe operation of the associated process equipment, within KMD.
  • Work safely by following the SOP and procedures.
  • Safe operation of a pellet extruder (cleaning of extruder equipment, completing screen filter changes at the required rate, use of Masterbatch material).
  • Provide quality samples at a specified rate (bulk density checks, visual checks of pellets)
  • Maintaining extruder output and the required quality is achieved and recorded.
  • Supervision of the Extruder Partner role (correct in feed material, recording of bag descriptions and numbers, safe operations).
  • Identifying and record all material movements, incl. weights and sampling at intervals
  • Maintain extruder Kanban records
  • Complete a visual safety inspection of the equipment prior to operation
  • Operate the machinery and monitor it continuously to optimise running conditions.
  • Support the Production Supervisor with continuous improvement throughout the shift, reporting progress and track improvements.
  • Support initiatives to ensure mínimal waste and improve housekeeping during production

Person Specification

Essential:
FLT Licence - counterbalance


Required Knowledge:
Production Operative background - 2-3 years.

Knowledge of extrusion, blown film, injection moulding, profile extrusion

Knowledge of plastics - PVC, PE, PET, ABS

Mechanical appreciation of process equipment.

1st level breakdown checks - checking the obvious reason for a breakdown

Understanding of production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap and re-work (the costs of not getting right 1st time)
