ROLE - Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

SALARY - £40,000- £55,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

TYPE - Permanent

LOCATION - Slough
My client is a specialist manufacturer of products used in a public environment.

They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in the Slough area on a permanent basis.


The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Design / Engineering Design or similar
  • 5 or more years' industry experience ideally working in a similar industrial design / development role within a manufacturing environment
  • Confident knowledge of a variety of manufacturing processes including plastic injection moulding
  • Proficient with using SolidWorks or similar CAD software for design
  • Experienced with DFM, FEA and Moldex
  • Knowledge of 3D printing and additive manufacture for prototyping
  • Experienced designing products from concept to production, ideally products used in a public environment
  • Innovative and passionate about design
  • Be technically minded with a head for problem solving
  • Able to work well individually as well as part of a team

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

  • Being responsible for the small teams of Mechanical Design and Electronic Design Engineers
  • Design and development of various custom products
  • Ensuring 3D design solutions and engineering drawings are completed for all New Product Development projects
  • Using CAD for design on a daytoday basis
  • Developing ideas from concept to production
  • Creating models/prototypes
  • Collaborating with different departments to ensure the smooth delivery of projects
  • Maintaining technical drawings and documentation
  • Providing technical guidance and support
  • Supporting product Testing, Verification & Validation
