Scotforth After School Club aka Scotforth Playschemes has a vacancie becoming available to start from September 2023. This is an exciting opportunity to join a professional and dynamic childcare/playwork team.
Post -Playworker based at scotforth St Paul's School The post is to cover 17.5 hours term time during after school club 5 afternoons 2.30 pm - 6.00pm (Monday to Friday) and then full-time during our holiday playschemes (all half terms, 1 week at Easter & 4 weeks in the summer) 8 out of 13 weeks
Purpose of Job:
To implement safe, creative and fun play activities/ games that aim to promote children's physical, social and creative development
- To develop strong working relationships with children, staff, school and parents to maintain excellent quality care for nursery & primary school aged childrenTo prepare and provide healthy food and snacks for children in our care
- To lead a group of children aged between years, providing their daily care and support.
Desirable
Experience of working in a play based childcare setting, leading groups in sports coaching, scouts, brownies, guides, Youth work etc
- A full and relevant Level 2/3 qualification in childcare, Early Years, NNEB, BTec, Teaching Assistant or other relevant level 2 childcare qualification
- Current Pediatric First Aid Certificate (would need to train towards asap)
- Current Food Hygiene Certificate (would need to train towards asap)
- Current Safeguarding Children Training (Child protection certificate)
- Current Health and Safety Certificate
Essential:
Willing to train and develp skills to gain a nationally recognised qualification(If not qualified level 2/3)
- GCSE English or equivalent level 2 qualification
- Some knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children.(full training will be provided)
- Previous experience working in a children's service environment either paid or voluntary within the specified age range.
- Ability to organise and facilitate play activities.
- Excellent organisational skills, managing time and balancing tasks/duties. Inc, engaging effectively with children of all ages, planning and delivering activities & effective record keeping.
- Skills, interests and abilities in either Arts and Crafts, Sports, Music, Drama, Dance etc.
Understanding what Play is and having the ability to translate this into sound working practice.
- Having a Fun approach to inspiring children's play.
- Ability to relate to a wide range of people.
- Adaptable and willingness to embrace challenges.
- Good written and verbal communications skills in English.
- An understanding of what constitutes good quality childcare.
- A strong commitment to Equal Opportunities. Understanding issues and barriers to inclusion.
- Able to communicate well in an appropriate manner to all children within the specified age range and their parents and carers.
- Understanding the integrated play environment and a willingness and ability to work using a whole team approach.
- Keen and willing to train and develop skills and embrace opportunity.
DBS checks and two references will be required
