Payroll Officer

£26,582 - £30,782 a year

Redhill

WFH 1 day a week

Duties:


  • All amounts paid to staff are supported by payslips & payslips are distributed in accordance with the monthly payroll timetables
  • PAYE, NI, pension & other statutory returns are accurately completed & submitted by the due date.
  • Amounts collected as agents, on behalf of HM Inland Revenue, Pension Scheme, Local Government Pension Scheme & any other body or Institution, are accurately calculated & paid by the due date
  • Assist staff & external organisations e.g. HM Inland Revenue, Pension authorities etc with queries relating to gross pay, tax, pensions
  • Responsible for the accuracy & integrity of data stored within the payroll system
  • Ensure that contracts are in place for all hourly paid staff through VT2000 & that all payments are only processed on authorised contracts/ pay claims & that all sessional claim forms are approved & processed at the agreed time of the month
  • Undertake tax & pension year end procedures, prepare returns for HM Inland Revenue, ensure P60's, P11D's & other year end documents are issued to staff in accordance with yearend timetable.
  • Monitor, record, process, analyse & disseminate payroll data as required particularly in respect of pay costs, staff sickness, maternity and Jury service.
  • Monitor, record & reconcile all transactions relating to the provision of enhanced pension arrangements, for former employees and to determine, in accordance with the guidelines from time to time
  • Ensure that all Budget holders & their nominees are conversant with all deadlines & procedures, including relevant parts of financial regulations, as they relate to the payroll/ VT2000 function
  • Ensure that documentation for all payroll team procedures is properly prepared and maintained up to date
  • Ensure that all key functions specified within the job descriptions of the payroll team are appropriately allocated, that due priorities are maintained to ensure that targets are met and that factors which may cause serious interruption to the workflow (holidays& absence through illness) are identified, reported & acted upon at the earliest opportunity
  • Establish & maintain performance indicators for the payroll function and to monitor performance against them
  • To act as a key point of contact for the Finance department in relation to all payrollrelated reviews and enquiries
  • Ensure that any recommendations made audit recommendations have been implemented, as they relate to the payroll function
Ensure the effective communication of information between payroll and the HR department

  • Establish & maintain appropriate parts of a HR information pack for new starters (Pension info, payroll / banking forms)
  • Undergo training & development as directed by Head of Finance, some of which may be off site
  • Abide by the organisations data protection policy.

Requirements:
CIPP or AAT Qualification is desirable

Maths and English GCSE Level 2 equivalent
