Maths and English Tutor

Qualiteach is currently working with a Pupil Referral Unit who is looking for an experienced Maths and English Tutor who can come in and give their students some extra support.

For the role you will be working from a timetable where you will work on a 1:1 basisand in small groups to help support students who are struggling with their Maths and English, you will need to liaise with the Maths and English Teachers to find out what the students are currently learning and what they need extra help with.

All of the studentsyou will be supporting will have been removed from a mainstream school and can show challenging behaviour, so when planning lessons it is advised that you try to include topics that they are interested in etc to keep them engaged.

There will also be timeswhen the Maths and English may be off sick and you are asked to step in and cover their lessons.

Therefore, the ideal Maths and English Tutor will need to have had previous experience working in a similar setting and not be phased by challenging behaviour.

Pupil Referral Unit

This Pupil Referral Unit is found in the South London borough of Southwark and caters for students aged between 11-16 years who have been removed from a mainstream school on a temporary or permanent basis due to behaviour, attendance, gang related issues etc.

They currently have 50 students who attend and in their last Ofsted in 2018, they were awarded 'Good' in all areas.
