The post holder will work within a team of 4 Specialists (3 nurses and 1 practioner with plans for a fifth band 5 nurse) who support congenital cardiac services The jobholder is responsible to support the Lead Clinician for Interventional Cardiology in the management of children and adults with congenital heart disease who are undergoing interventional cardiology procedures.

This includes the pre and post procedural care; ensuring that the patients are fully prepared for the procedure by providing information and support in a pre-assessment appointment.

In the catheter lab the post holder will provide direct patient care for adults and children by assisting with all procedures; scrubbing and circulating for percutaneous cardiac catheters, PDA occlusion, ASD, Coronary fistula, PVL and VSD Closures, Stenting, Pulmonary valve implants, pacemaker devices (including internal cardiac defibrillators and cardiac resynchronisation therapy) and electrophysiological studies.

They will follow the patients up post procedure on the ward and also once discharged ensuring an excellent patient experience.

The jobholder will contribute to the development of the speciality service and ensure cost effective use of resources. They will contribute to data collection and audit and support the education of the MDT and the wider teams.
