Autism Specialist Needed for School in Derby
Classroom Recruiters is proud to partner with a reputable school in the Derby area in their search for a dedicated Autism Specialist.
Key Skills and Duties:
- Individualized Support: As an Autism Specialist, you'll work on a 1:1 basis with students, providing tailored support and interventions to meet their unique needs.
- Collaborative Approach: You'll collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs) that promote the student's academic and socialemotional growth.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills are essential for effectively liaising with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to ensure consistency and continuity of support for the student.
Who We Are Looking For:
- Experience and Qualifications: Prior experience working with children or adults with additional needs, particularly Autism, is essential. A relevant qualification in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field is desirable but not mandatory.
- Empathy and Patience: The ability to empathize with the student's challenges and demonstrate patience and understanding is crucial for building trust and rapport.
- Adaptability: Every child with Autism is unique, and flexibility is key in tailoring interventions and approaches to meet the individual needs of each student.
- Positive Attitude: A positive and nurturing demeanor can make a significant difference in creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment for the student.

Forming strong relationships with students with Autism is paramount for their success.
As an Autism Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in building trust and establishing a sense of security and belonging for the student.
Your ability to forge meaningful connections and create a safe and supportive environment will contribute to the student's academic and personal growth.
This is a full-time role starting as soon as possible.Initially, you'll begin on a temporary basis with the opportunity for a permanent contract based on performance and fit within the school community.

Contract length: 12 months
Salary:
£13.50-£15.50 per hour
