The Feed is a social enterprise in Norwich.

Through the power of food, our mission is to empower communities in Norwich, ensuring each and every person has the support to eat well, live well, and feel connected.

We are passionate about food and passionate about people, so we run cafés and a catering enterprise which produce delicious homemade food to generate much of our income.


We also operate a Community Hub where we have a Social Supermarket that provides affordable groceries alongside our Community Café & Kitchen where we provide advice sessions, activities and workshops to support our members with issues relating to food inequality.


By providing safe spaces at the heart of the community and a holistic programme of projects and 1:1 support, we can reduce inequalities, raise aspirations, and create a shared culture of strength and kindness.

The Community Hub Assistant role is a new vacancy at The Feed's Community Hub. You will be working across the Social Supermarket and Community Café.


You will be responsible for ordering stock for the supermarket and the café- maintaining a stock control system to maintain a variety of products available to our customers.

You will be responsible for cashing up daily, and maintaining records.


You will also be responsible for keeping the till system up to date - adding products, ensuring prices and information are correct.

You will conduct morning team briefings with the volunteers. Overseeing them during their shift and ensuring they receive a rewarding and meaningful experience.


You will work with the Manager to listen to our community and build on their strengths to help create a calendar of relevant and engaging workshops, activities and events.

Food safety is an important part of the role. Working with the Hub Manager you will ensure compliance with all food safety processes, systems and paperwork.

Cleanliness is fundamental - you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the communal areas.


Are you a multi-tasker? No two days are the same This role is involved in all aspects of the Community Hub, the ability to think on your feet is essential.


Training will be given, but a good level of computer literacy is essential to the smooth running of the Hub.

We use Office 365, we have a whizzy till system and a client data base that need to be accurately updated.


Are you tidy & organised? The stock room is your domain, with many different people accessing the space, we need clear systems and processes.

Job Types:
Part-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 12 months

Part-time hours: 30 per week


Salary:
£11.50 per hour


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Norwich, NR1 3HL: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:


  • GCSE or equivalent (preferred)

Experience:


  • Customer service: 1 year (preferred)
  • Administrative experience: 1 year (preferred)
  • Retail: 2 years (required)
