Description
We want to help anyone facing any family or relationship problem to find help fast. At our public facing website individuals can discover trusted external support services which are available nationwide.

Please note we don't directly provide advice or support ourselves.

In this role you will help us make improvements to our directory of services and website so that it is easier for more people to search and find support themselves.

Across a four-month project, in your area of specialty, you will help us through guided bitesize activities such as:

  • Review and recommend changes to the scope of topics in the directory. For example, are there any topics missing or misplaced at
  • Create and review new information and messages to be added to the website for each topic to reassure and encourage users
  • Suggest 'keyword' search terms individuals may enter when describing the problems they are facing
  • In the future we would like to add local support services. What criteria should we consider to ensure data is accurate, kept up to date, and to ensure safeguarding for individuals?
You should have professional experience in one or more of the following topic areas:

family planning, adoption and foster care, parent support, family carers, mediation, relationship support, marriage and civil partnership, separation and divorce, childcare, child behaviour and wellbeing, parenting, domestic abuse and violence support, social care, care leavers, or other areas covered on our website.


Who We Are
11.8million people in the UK struggle to find support. Sadly, 2 in 5 will delay or give up looking because of this. With your help, we can connect more people to the support they need when they need it.


Hundreds of volunteers from all walks of life have already taken part in creating the UK's largest vetted directory of support services.

The directory provides clear and unbiased information on national support services such as helplines.

It covers all life challenges from health to housing and information on over 2,600 services is shared:


  • With the general public at free website and My Pickle social media channels
  • With companies to assist customers or employees in need


Over the past two years we have directly connected over 5,600 people to support, and our work has picked up many awards.

With your help, we can connect many more people to support during these incredibly tough times.


Why We Need You
As a volunteer-driven initiative, volunteers are our beating heart. We would not exist without them offering their time, skills and expertise to help others.

Key details for Cohort 6 of our volunteer Cohort programme:


  • Volunteer two hours per week
  • Cohort 6 runs from 20 February 2023 to 19 June 2023 (four months)
  • Volunteer remotely from the comfort of your own home
  • Volunteer with flexible hours (aside from meetings below), easy to fit alongside existing commitments
  • Training, friendly buddies and team meetings to welcome and assist you

The Role
As a Volunteer Consultant, you will be part of our Product Hub team.

The aim of the Product Hub volunteer team is to make it easier for people to find support by improving our directory of services.

The key activities for this specific role are outlined above.

  • Role requirements:_ high level of attention to detail, good written English, strong research and problem solving skills, professional experience in this topic area.


We are looking for volunteers based in the UK who can commit time two hours per week from Monday 20 February 2023 to Monday 19 June 2023.

All our meetings take place online on Zoom. Due to capacity and privacy, we do not record or rerun these meetings and appreciate your understanding.

Attendance is essential to stay up to date and involved


Volunteer Meeting Schedule:

  • Mandatory Induction: All volunteers must attend this on Monday 20 February, 17:3018:30
  • Product Hub Team meetings: Each Monday fortnightly at 18:0019:00 on 27 Feb, 13 March, 27 March, 10 April, 24 April, 8 May, 22 May, 5 June
  • Socials (optional): All volunteers invited. Dates tbc and will include 16 June.


All roles are home-based and require motivated individuals who can schedule in and consistently offer two hours of assistance each week.

Remote-working: Access to a computer or laptop with camera and a stable internet connection is required.
