We're hiring an Assistant to join our fast-paced Communications team, which sits in the central Brand department, at the heart of Penguin Random House UK.


About the Penguin Brand Communications team


Our team is responsible for telling our company story, protecting our reputation and promoting our brand, to our colleagues, our industry and our readers.

We're looking for a Communications Assistant to help us achieve this by supporting the wider team deliver their day-to-day tasks and projects.


The opportunity


This opportunity isn't like some of our other publicity or communications roles as you won't be working on individual books or authors.

Instead, the role is based in our central communications team and will focus on telling the story of our company to our key audiences including employees and future talent.


In this role you'll ensure our colleagues are always informed about the latest company news by keeping our buzzing intranet and weekly newsletter jam-packed of useful and engaging content.

You'll help our colleagues feel connected to each other across multiple teams, sites and channels, and inspired about our publishing and our purpose through creative campaigns and experiences.

This includes leading on our company-wide book club, managing our staff book sales, and providing support for important internal events, such as our regular CEO briefing and inclusion speaker series.


When we need to tell our story to the outside world, you will also be on hand to support press and digital media communications too, whether that's pulling together media lists, updating website copy, media monitoring or drafting external copy.


You'll also help us keep on top of things as a team - whether that's making sure our content calendar is up to date, using analytics to measure the impact and reach of our communications, or helping us maintain our relationships with colleagues across all parts of the business.

  • You'll have an interest in developing your career in communications, and in learning about different communications tools and best practice always thinking about how to use these to improve what we do
  • You'll have an interest in our brand purpose and the importance of books and reading, and a desire to connect these with our colleagues and the outside world
  • You'll be organised and have the ability to plan for and manage multiple priorities
  • You'll have great communications skills and are open to connecting and building relationships with lots of different people across the company
  • You do NOT have to have any prior experience in communications, PR or publishing

Our hybrid working approach


PRH is currently experimenting with hybrid working and involving colleagues across the business to shape our future ways of working.

The needs of our teams and individuals are different, so we're not taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

This role is based in London and there'll be some in-person meetings.

The exact balance of office to remote working will depend on the nature of your role and team needs, and we are open to discussing this through the recruitment process.


What you can expect from us:

Salary:
You'll start on £26,500. Expect a £1,000 increase on your first anniversary in this role to reflect your growing contribution.
