Forming part of the SYNLAB Group, Lextox are a UKAS accredited laboratory based in Cardiff. Lextox provide drug, alcohol and DNA testing services for family law cases and childcare proceedings. SYNLAB in the UK is a trusted expert in clinical laboratory and medical diagnostic services.

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Team Leader to join our Drug & Alcohol laboratory team in Cardiff, on a full time and permanent basis.

Applicants are expected to have ISO17025 knowledge and hold previous laboratory supervisory experience.

Hours: 40hrs a week / Monday - Friday

Responsibilities:

To support the Lab Manager in the management of all staff resources within the laboratory.
To supervise and manage the daytoday lab operation.
To support the Lab Manager in the development and implementation of documents and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure compliance with UKAS and ISO17025 accreditation standards.
To review SOP's, the applicability and effectiveness of procedures on an ongoing basis.
To support the Deputy Lab Manager in carrying out staff sickness absence returns, first line appraisals and one to ones.
To be responsible for investigating laboratory nonconformances or nonstandards occurrences.
Support Deputy Lab Manager to ensure training and competency records are kept up to date in a timely manner and perform checks periodically.
To support the Deputy Lab Manager with technical queries from within the laboratory and/or other Lextox departments, dealing with them in an efficient and timely manner.

Essential Skills and Experience:

BSc Science (or equivalent) or a relevant Science degree.
Experience in managing staff in a laboratory situation. Experience in working in a UKAS accredited laboratory.
A strong focus on service and quality with an eye for detail and accuracy.
Experience of working in a clinical laboratory, with a strong focus on quality and demonstrate understanding training in all lab processes.
Previous first line management experience.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
A conscientious attitude with good attention to detail.
Ability to organise oneself & others.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Effective communication skills.
