Now Education are looking for 1:1 Teaching Assistants, for SEND Schools in Burton-on-Trent, East Staffordshire.

You will work with mainstream and SEND teachers in their day-to-day duties including helping plan lessons that contain accessible opportunities for learning at all ability levels.


You will collaborate with teachers in delivering programmes of teaching and learning activities and wellbeing support for children identified as needing 1:1 support.

The primary focus is to undertake educational activities with individuals, within a framework agreed with and under the overall direction and supervision of a qualified teacher.


Requirements:


  • You must have a Teaching Assistant qualification or six months plus of relevant experience.
  • Experience working with students on a 1:1 basis.
  • Experience working with children with autism or special educational needs is a plus.
  • Familiarity with implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) is beneficial.
  • You must have the patience to provide 1:1 support to children with SEN needs.
  • Be creative in your approach to learning and delivering the curriculum.
  • Have high expectations of pupils' achievements and a commitment to excellent standards.
  • Work well as part of a team.
  • Be enthusiastic, energetic and committed to making learning exciting.
  • Have excellent communication skills with children and adults.

Key duties and responsibilities:


  • Support in the educational, social, emotional, physical and sensory development of the individual pupil, under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, SENCo and class teacher.
  • Assist in the implementation of the pupil's Statement/EHCP and Individual Education Plan (IEP) and help to monitor their progress.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver assigned programmes of teaching and learning activities to an individual pupil modifying and adapting activities as necessary under the overall direction and supervision of a teacher.
  • Assess, record and report on development, progress and attainment.
  • Use teaching and learning objectives to plan, evaluate and adjust lessons/work plans as appropriate within agreed systems of supervision.
  • Assess the needs of a pupil and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support pupils' learning.
  • Develop and promote positive working relationships with staff, pupils and parents and promote the school positively at all times.
  • Liaise with staff and other relevant professionals and provide information about pupils as appropriate.
  • Support pupils in social and emotional wellbeing, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate.
  • Help to keep the children safe.
  • Contribute to meetings with parents and carers to provide constructive feedback on pupil progress, achievement and wellbeing.

Skills:


  • Ability to provide engaging 1:1 support.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • The ability to respond calmly and constructively when dealing with SEN students.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • The ability to seek advice and assistance to meet students' needs.
  • Willingness to maintain confidentiality on all school matters.
  • A willingness to engage in professional development opportunities.
  • Ability to engage and connect with children on their level.
  • Patience, empathy, and understanding when working with SEN students.
  • Excellent organisational skills to plan and implement activities effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
