Job description:


We're expanding our user centred digital design expertise here at Ofqual by recruiting in our user research and interaction design areas.

The Senior Interaction Designer will be responsible for making sure we develop digital services that respond to the needs of a diverse range of users and are designed in an accessible and intuitive way that aligns with Government Digital

Services (GDS) requirements.

Each role will work closely with other Digital, Data and Technology (DDAT) specialists across a range of external and internal projects from Discovery through to release, delivered through an agile approach.


As our Senior Interaction Designer, you'll be developing prototypes for digital services that respond to user needs, ensuring our services are accessible, logical, and intuitive, and do so in alignment with the GOV.UK Design System.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the design of accessible services across channels, devices, browsers, and platforms that deliver real value for our users
  • Ensure that the design of both staff and publicfacing services is consistent, both internally and with the rest of GOV.UK
  • Lead work within a multidisciplinary team to turn research into usercentred services, whilst collaborating with user researchers, business analysts, developers and other DDaT roles
  • Create and rapidly iterate low and high fidelity prototypes to test and communicate ideas
  • Design, lead and mature Interaction Design as a function within the organisation
  • Be an advocate for users and user centred design within DDaT and across Ofqual more widely
  • Understand user needs and track interactions across service, departmental and organisational boundaries.
