REPORTS TO:
Operations Manager / Senior Team Leader


ROLE DESCRIPTION:

Working with Operations and Planning departments. Key responsibility for managing all inventory control-related activities.

  • Execute inventory control measures to ensure the company minimizes stock holding and maximizes stock system and paperwork accuracy.
  • The role carries responsibility for working with purchasing, goods inwards and dispatch to ensure necessary functions are carried out correctly to enable the execution of the production plan.
The job role may include other reasonable duties/tasks from time to time.

The position does not carry any supervisory or management responsibility.


MAIN ACCOUNTIBILITIES:


  • Develop the company's inventory management strategy to control costs within budgetary limits, generate savings, rationalise inventory, and maximise available working capital.
  • Manage and maintain the company's material and stocked product inventory including stock locations.
  • Manage and control perpetual inventory stock counting/inventory accuracy checks.
  • Minimise overstocks and remove obsolete/redundant raw materials to maximize the availability of working capital.
  • Ensure that the goods inwards/stock control department is well organised and controlled to sufficiently support production and the goals of Jenks and Cattell.
  • Ensure incoming products are receipted and managed appropriately according to company procedure.
  • Ensure materials are ready and available for production as and when required.
  • Liaise with purchasing departments and ensure that any materials that are late or holding up production for whatever reason are chased and followed up until received.
  • Ensure subcontract processes are received back and that suppliers are chased to ensure no late delivery situation.
  • Help purchasing department and provide routine management information on inventory performance.
  • Monitor and evaluate consumables usage & costs
  • Monitor and evaluate material utilization and scrap.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL:


Essential:

  • Knowledge of all aspects of raw materials as handled by the site.
  • Selfreliant, diligent, motivated, and numerate.
  • Forklift truck licence
  • Handwriting and manual recording are legible and accurate.
  • Understanding of Inventory management systems for handling and storage requirements of all material types.

Desirable:


  • Mechanical handling equipment experience.
  • Understanding the full scope of quality processes applicable to handling and landing materials.
  • Ability to use all relevant areas of reporting systems and support their requirements.

HEALTH AND SAFETY:


  • To support the business practice of the 6S method
  • To ensure all safe systems at work are followed.

£25,000.00 per year
