Bioinformatics Team lead

London - Hybrid


This highly influential research institute are looking for an experienced Bioinformatician with a strong background in genomic data analysis and research support.

This position will require you to provide both technical leadership and people management across your team.


You will be working towards overcoming challenges in large scale whole genome analysis and be responsible for building and using genomic data and analytical workflows.

As a team lead you will be a key part of the companies development of solutions and products for both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities may include;

  • Develop datasets and workflows for high throughput genome analysis
  • Lead Code and workflow reviews
  • Lead complex custom genomic analyses
  • Managing, mentoring and supervising direct reports
  • Contributing to the hiring strategy for the team
Ideally you will have

  • PhD in related field (ideally bioinformatics / computational biology etc) AND significant work experience in similar field
  • Demonstratable leadership experience
  • Excellent skills in programming languages such as Python / R
  • Experience with workflow languages such as wdl or nextflow
  • Experience with largescale data platforms used in genomics research
  • Previous experience in human genetics and with WGS is highly desirable
