Data Transformation Lead

The Central Data Office will include a transformation and strategy team, which this role will be part of.

The role focuses on the harmonisation the delivery and execution of key strategic priorities and will working across key business stakeholder, IT technical architects in various implementation projects.

MRSG is at the beginning of an ambitious data journey and this is an exciting time to join the organisation and to be a part of it realising its digital, data and analytics ambitions

The Role

  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data architects, data and business analysts end to end to understand data requirements and identify opportunities for transformation and enhancement.
  • Manage the delivery and execution of data transformation design to convert raw data into valuable insights, improving data quality, accuracy, and accessibility.
  • Lead the execution of data migration strategies, ETL processes, and data integration solutions to consolidate and centralise data from various sources into a single Data & Analytics Platform for MRSG.
  • Oversee the business requirements for developing and implementing ETL processes, data pipelines, and data integration solutions to consolidate and streamline data from diverse sources.
  • Maintain data transformation documentation, including mapping specifications, transformation rules, and data lineage.
  • Manage the delivery of data profiling, validation, and quality assessments to ensure consistency and integrity of data across different systems.
  • Oversee the work to automate and continuously improve data processes.
  • Define a plan and oversee execution of data estate simplification and the reduction of end user computing
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and trends in data transformation, analytics, and the insurance domain.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to ensure the execution of new data products i.e. datadriven insights, dashboards, and reports that support business operations and decisionmaking. Identify and develop the plan to remove legacy report and systems.

General Responsibilities

  • A pivotal role in the execution of the Data Strategy, within the overall Global Business Strategy
  • A pivotal role in shaping and manging the investment budget for data strategy and digital transformation.
  • Daytoday operations of the Data Office are carried out professionally and in a manner that supports the business goals of the organisation

Data Office Responsibilities

  • Work proactively to ensure good data practices are embedded in project design, ensuring that projects are accretive to the overall MRSG data landscape
  • Own the overall Data project control gate, to help projects align and sequence effectively to the overall Data Strategy and to incrementally build out the future data landscape
  • Maintain collegiate relationships with counterparts at the Munich Re Group level in order to understand Group direction with respect to the linkage between commercial and data strategies and tooling
  • Collaborate with IT to ensure data and systems work are mutually supportive
What we are looking for

  • 8+ years' solid handson data transformation experience, with a substantial number of these spent in Insurance, preferably London Market
  • Excellent stakeholder management across key Insurance functions i.e. Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Risk & Compliance
  • Development and maintenance of Future State Data roadmaps and plans, aligned with business needs and technological considerations
