We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Associate Director, Climate Transition


HSBC announced its ambition to become a net zero bank in October 2020, including an aim to align its financed emissions to net zero by 2050, and to provide between $750 billion and $1 trillion in sustainable finance and investments over the next 10 years.


The role holder will support the development of analyses and insights to inform management decision making related to HSBC's ambition to align its financed emissions globally to net-zero outcomes by 2050.


In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Shaping, managing and delivery of climate and sustainability projects, as identified in the book of work agreed by members the Global Sustainability ExCo.
  • Using climate and sustainability knowledge to provide inputs to the projects to which they are assigned.
  • Working collaboratively to identify solutions to climate and sustainability challenges for the bank.
  • Keeping customers up to date with regards to progress and possible changes to delivery timelines.
  • Coordination, creation, and management of content for external and internal engagement activities that support ORCEO engagement and client dialogue on transition plans e.g., workshop coordination and facilitation, making group activities are bridged with regional ones.
  • Supporting the Hub Resource Manger by maintaining project logs.
  • Delivery of reports and presentations to support decision making
  • Performing qualitative and/or quantitative analysis to support project implementation
  • Assisting in the implementation of agreedupon solutions
  • Managing project work until successful completion
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

Essential Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of the field of sustainability and climate change, with a preference for experience in sustainable finance and/or the financial services industry
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainability, environmental and community issues
  • Experience of delivering new initiatives and driving change within a complex global corporation, ideally within financial services/banking.
  • Strong project management and time management skills, with the ability to be highly organised
  • Ability to use initiative to overcome challenges and solve problems.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience of working in financial services or banking is desired, but not essential.
  • Ability to develop programme plans, implement and deliver against agreed objectives and KPIs.
Location for this role is London with hybrid working
