Fixed-Term (12 months)

Full-time (35 hours per week)


We are looking for a Research Assistant to support and assist a new research team focused on iPSC models of tauopathy.


The Opportunity:

You will contribute in supporting the research team with maintenance of human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs)-derived neuron-astrocyte co-cultures.

You will assist in characterising the effect of _MAPT _mutations on different cell types using various molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA isolation, western blotting and fluorescence microscopy, and aid with high resolution imaging techniques in human tissues.

Training will be provided, as necessary.

You must be able to work closely with other team members to develop and troubleshoot protocols, and will be responsible for your own daily organisation.


Your skills and attributes for success:

  • BSc degree in a biological sciences field
  • Prior experience in a laboratory environment
  • Experience with array tomography in human brain sections
  • Experience with fluorescence microscopy platforms
  • Experience with data and image analysis
