An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Christie Pathology Partnership (CPP) for a Medical Secretary to join our Pathology Admin team which is part of the Histology department.

  • The Christie Pathology Partnership_ was formed in 2014 and is a joint venture between The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and SYNLAB, the largest provider of laboratory pathology and diagnostic services in Europe. We provide Pathology services for The Christie, the largest single site cancer centre in Europe, treating more than 60,000 patients a year and the first UK centre to be accredited as a comprehensive cancer centre.
  • SYNLAB_ is the European leader in delivery of highquality pathology testing and imaging services. SYNLAB operates in 35 countries across four continents, employing more than 20,000 members of staff and conducting approximately 500 million tests per annum.

The purpose of the role is to:

To provide full secretarial support to a team of Clinical Histopathologists, ensuring that a high standard of service is maintained, deadlines met and to meet the needs of the patient and those of the department.


To keep accurate, up-to-date patient records using manual and electronic systems (TDHC - Histology database, Careflow, CWP, HODS etc.) which involves data input and maintenance of various databases.

Other administration duties include covering workload during absences, filing and dealing with multi
- disciplinary meetings.

  • A comprehensive secondary education
  • AMPSPAR Diploma (Association of Medical Secretaries, Receptionists and Practice Manages) or equivalent qualifications
  • Clerical/secretarial certificates (e.g. RSA II, NVQII or equivalent)
