    The Acting team leader role:
The role is also largely public facing and will require some engagement with visitors throughout the day. This includes educating guests and answering questions while moving through the site and giving public experiences on occasion.


Essential:


  • 2 years minimum in a zoo keeping/aquarium husbandry role
  • Experience medicating animals under supervision
  • Experienced in providing high levels of animal husbandry to a wide range of taxonomic groups (preferably at a zoo licenced site)
  • Must have a good level of education at standard grade or equivalent qualifications (including English, Maths and Science)

Desirable:


  • Educated to degree level in relevant field (Zoology, Marine biology, Animal Welfare and Management) or have experience applicable to the role
  • Completed or undergoing the DMZAA zoological course
  • Previous management or supervisory experience in a zoological setting
  • Skills in animal training and enrichment
  • Experience writing animal diet plans
  • Experience starting or participating in conservation projects
  • Experience in animal presenting
  • Qualified up to Rescue Diver (PADI)
  • Experienced in aquarium husbandry
  • Experienced in handling crocodilians
  • Experience with primates
  • Experience with penguins
  • Experience working with large aquarium life support systems
  • Ability to carry out basic maintenance and construction tasks
  • Experience using the Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS)
  • Full UK driving licence
