Job Title Group Leader and Family Support
Responsible to Senior Coordinator
Hours of work 15 hours per week (11 hours Group Leader; 4 hours Family Support). There is some flexibility about days and hours of work. Hours to be completed within Monday - Wednesday. This is not a term-time-only post.
Salary:
£8,361.60 per annum (£20, FTE)
This is an exciting opportunity to build on the success of our group work providing an extra layer of support to families of young children within the Salisbury area.
This role will also be responsible for managing volunteers providing direct, personalised support for individual referred families within Home-Start South Wiltshire area.
Main purposes of the job
- Ensure the effective operational management of a family group in accordance with the standards and methods of practice, including safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, confidentiality, and health and safety policies.
- Maintain high standards of practice in working with children and their families within the ethos of Home-Start.
- Ensure the inclusion and diversity of all aspects of Home-Start South Wiltshire's operation and work.
- Maintain the family group in Salisbury.
- Prepare and run a weekly 2hour family group, liaising with families, organising craft play, providing lunch and leading volunteers.
- Manage the volunteer support given to 3 individual families including reviewing progress, completing internal reporting and ensuring regular supervision of the volunteer.
- Positively contribute and engage as an active member of the team.
- Liaise with external agencies to provide strong signposting and further improve our service.
- Provide a safe, welcoming environment that reduces isolation for parents, empowers childfocused play and offers guidance to support child development.

- To welcome all parents/carers to the Family Group, recognising the importance of their role as the prime educators of their children.
- To provide a safe, stimulating environment for children and their parents.
- To be aware of group dynamics ensuring the groups provide a nonjudgemental, supportive environment for children and their parent/carer.
- To comply with best practice regarding health and safety, hygiene, GDPR, safeguarding and volunteer management.
- Work alongside the Senior Coordinator in the planning and delivery of group support.
- Oversee initial contact and assessment with the family prior to matching with a volunteer.
- Review progress and complete internal reporting.
- Maintain contact with the referral agency.
- To contribute to the effective daytoday operation of the scheme in accordance with the Home-Start Memorandum & Articles of Association, Home-Start Agreement and QualityAssurance Standards.
- To maintain high standards of practice in supporting families within the Home-Start model.
- To ensure equality of opportunity, fairness and diversity in all aspects of the scheme's work.
- Implement good safeguarding practice in all areas of work.
- To work within Home-Start Standards & Methods of Practice including Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding and Promoting the Welfare of Children, Confidentiality and all mandatory policies.
