The Company Safety Adviser Role is key in providing governance, oversight & assurance, and direct support to ensure we deliver legal compliance and continuously improve safety performance across the business.


You'll be providing expertise in your specialist area and influencing the business approach through setting strategy for safety compliance and improvements.


Pay, benefits and culture


We can offer a competitive salary from £71,101 - £98,004 and you'll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Nuclear Generation Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

What you'll be doing

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Operating in a multistation (fleet) context, with regular interaction, and travel to power stations.
  • Developing & maintaining company policy in respect of your specialist topic area.
  • Providing performance monitoring and insights to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Providing functional oversight & assurance of standards in the field.
  • Identifying and delivering opportunities for continual improvement and organisational collaboration internal and external to EDF.
  • Creating trusting relationships and proactive interaction with our internal and external regulators.
  • Leading cross functional teams to deliver fleetwide improvement initiatives.
  • Providing specialist support & advice to your stakeholders across the business.
  • Supporting the manager in setting and delivering the strategic objectives, business and improvement plans for the Branch, including long term capability plans
  • Maintaining flexibility to deal with emerging work or issues with the ability to prioritise work accordingly

Context for the specific roles:

Conventional Safety Specialist


You'll be working within a team of six company safety advisors, responsible for leading the fleetwide approach to managing, improving, and deploying a subset of safety topics.

The topics assigned to you will be determined based on your specific skillsets and previous experience.


Functionally leading multi discipline teams across the business, you'll set the overall governance in these areas and be responsible for overseeing and assuring implementation on our power stations.


Occupational Hygienist


You'll be working within a team of six company safety advisors and responsible for leading the fleetwide approach to managing, improving, and deploying occupational hygiene topics such as Asbestos Management, Noise, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health, Legionella, Hand Arm Vibration.


You'll be using your expertise in occupational hygiene by influencing the business approach through setting fleetwide strategy and governance for occupational hygiene, identifying improvements, and assuring implementation standards on our power stations.


Electrical Safety Specialist


Fully versed with electrical safety requirements, you'll be working within a team of six company safety advisors, responsible for leading the fleetwide approach to managing, improving, and deploying excellent electrical safety standards and practices.


Leading and influencing our cross functional stakeholders, you'll set the overall electrical safety strategy and governance, and be responsible for overseeing and assuring implementation on our power stations.


Process Safety Specialist


With a strong Process Safety background, you'll be providing functional leadership for developing and implementing world class process safety management arrangements, including those specific to DSEAR, COMAH and PSSR, across the EDF Fleet.

You'll know "what good looks like" and be responsible for overseeing and assuring implementation on our power stations.


Fire Safety Specialist
You'll be providing functional leadership for maintaining, developing and implementing world class fire safe
