Description

Stuartfield preschool group is a committee run charity group working in partnership with Aberdeenshire council to provide children with funded Early Learning and Childcare places.

The sessions are run by qualified staff and we are registered with the Care Inspectorate.


We have an excellent opportunity for an Early Years Support worker to join our team of experienced practitioners supporting children in their play using current good practice guidance and curriculums which will meet children's individual needs.


In this role the successful applicant will be required to work 35.45 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8.15am to 4pm and Friday 8.15am until 1pm.


Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Providing a happy, safe and stimulating environment, which will build children's confidence, self-esteem and develop their social skills through interaction and play.
  • Familiarisation with Curriculum for Excellence, Realising the Ambition and HGIOELC
  • Make observations of the children and play activities to meet individual children's learning
  • Attend planning and communication meetings with the Early learning and Childcare setting
  • Assisting colleagues with setting up and clearing away of equipment and to check its safety.
  • Maintaining standards of cleanliness and tidiness in the interest of hygiene.
  • Take children to the bathroom as necessary, practicing and encouraging good hygiene.
  • Assisting colleagues in carrying out fire drills on a regular basis.
  • Ensuring that any accident or incident to children or adults is recorded in the accident/incident book.
  • Opening the secure door in the mornings and welcome parents/carer and their children.
  • Ensuring that every child is collected by their parent or authorized carer.
  • Encouraging positive behavior in the children and allow them to be actively involved in making rules to promote this.
  • To undertake any other duties deemed necessary by the manager and or committee.
  • Understand and adhere to the policies and procedures of the Early Learning and Childcare Setting
  • Adhere to Health and Safety procedures and risk assessments.
  • To be a member of the Scottish Social Services Council
  • Keep a Continuing Professional Development record and where relevant achieve a relevant formal qualification.
  • Understand your responsibility regarding child protection.


The post requires you to obtain registrations with the SSSC within 6 months of starting and to meet any qualification requirements within your registration period.


  • National Certificate in Early Education and Childcare at SCQF Level
  • SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 6


However consideration will be given to those without these qualifications and support will be given to meet any qualification requirements.


This post has a minimum requirement of two references, one of these must be your current or most recent employer.

£10.90 per hour
