At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft.

We have an new exciting and career defining opportunity for a Indirect Buyer.


The Indirect Procurement Commodity is responsible for managing all capital expenditure and Non product related goods & services across the site ensuring requirements are met on time and in accordance with the appropriate quality standards, through a highly capable and cost effective supply base in line with the strategic direction of the Global Commodity Team.

The Category Buyer shall ensure that materials and services are placed on order in accordance with Procurement & site processes and available in line with Customer requirements, resolving any issues in a timely manner.


How You'll Contribute:


  • Compliance with all risk assessments and company Environment, Health & Safety Procedures relevant to all work activities.
  • Reporting of all incidents, accidents and near misses as per the company's procedure and implementation of identified corrective actions.
  • Maintain good standards of housekeeping in designated workarea(s).
  • Drawing up and maintaining a feasible and comprehensive plan for purchasing parts
  • Proactively identifying possible deviations from plans made; analyze the consequences on processes / projects and make proposals for adjustments
  • Placing orders with suppliers in accordance with framework contracts & SRM Carts
  • Requesting and assessing bids from suppliers if framework contracts are missing
  • Taking care of internal communication regarding the status of the purchasing process.
  • Understanding customer issues relating to Supply & Performance of Indirect Goods & Services
  • Resolving Issues with Supplier invoices and monitoring the settlement of payments.
  • Ensuring no disruption to Supply due to payment issues
  • Monitoring, analyzing and where possible, taking measures to improve suppliers' delivery performance
  • Making proposals regarding organization and process improvement with regard to the procedure
  • Actively looking for opportunities to minimize work, lead times and capital requirements
  • Ensuring proper archiving of relevant documents
  • Supporting Global Category Strategies through Data gathering, Site Based communication, Contractual Compliance and Implementing of new Suppliers or Initiatives

What You'll Bring:

Essential:

  • Experience working in Procurement and preferably some experience of Indirect Procurement
  • Supply chain management experience and skills.

Desirable:

  • MCIPS Qualification or studying towards
