Following a recent rebrand and refurbishment to modernise the look and feel of the space, the centre has introduced a 3d suite for prototyping and CAD design/training and a unique zone for wellbeing and mindfulness.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an all-round, pro-active handyperson to join the centre.

Great exposure to general maintenance in a professional environment.


Day in the life of a Handy Person at the Engine House.

A Handy Person's day-to-day job is extremely varied and could see you painting a wall one day and repairing a door the next.

It ultimately depends on where you are working but some of your regular duties could include:

• Minor plumbing and carpentry
• Shifting and assembling furniture or equipment
• Clearing or cleaning general areas
• Garden/landscape installation and maintenance
• Changing light bulbs and ensuring other fixtures and fittings are in good working order
• Footpath maintenance/Snow and Ice management
• Painting and decorating offices and communal areas/ carpeting rooms
• Clearing gutters
• Maintaining property exterior through the different seasons
• Repair windows or doors/locks
• Support the facilities team in Compliance tasks and completing safety checks
• Assisting with Kitchen refurbishments

Skills and Experience

• Extrades person and/or have completed a City & Guilds, BTECs, NVQs or hold a CSCS card
• Experience in plumbing, plastering, carpentry, and general maintenance are all very useful
• Physically strong capable of working with machinery or moving heavy equipment
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills are important as is an ability to read and understand instructions
• Basic knowledge of Health and Safety and ability to follow a set of RAMs would be ideal
• Experience of managing contractors, desirable
• Must be able to use power tools, and will be required to use hand tools
• Experience with Kitchen Refurbs and carpeting are desirable
