We are working with Manchester City Council to find a Finance Manager on a temporary basis.

Length of role:
Initial end date 01/09/2023.

Pay rate:
£200 per day. If you are looking for a different pay rate, please let me know.

Working arrangements:
Full time. 2 days a week in office.


The role:


This role will lead a team responsible for the provision of financial advice, management and monitoring information for corporate and specific revenue and capital budget.

You will take a leading role in the preparation of annual budgets, closure of accountsand statutory returns in line with legislative requirements.

You will lead on the provision of detailed revenue budget information for inclusion in the budgets and for reporting purposes.


Key Duties::


  • Providing accurate and timely budget monitoring information for delegated areas of the revenue and capital budgets and funding, including the provision of comprehensive financial information and analysis to relevant external agencies, partner organisationsand outside bodies.
  • Leading on the provision of financial support to support the efficient management and delivery of corporate projects, working collaboratively to ensure that finance is embedded in all projects and initiatives across the organisation.
  • Working crossorganisationally, identify, review and improve the quality of information provided to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leading on the development, design and review of financial procedures systems and written procedures, maximising productivity and quality of output, ensuring that corporate, directorate and customer needs are identified and met
  • Preparing reports, briefing notes and working documents for committee meetings, working groups, outside bodies and other stakeholders as required.

Experiences required::


  • Communication and analytics, skills.
  • Qualified, Partqualified, or QBE.
  • Experience of Budget monitoring.
  • Public sector experience preferable but not necessary.
  • Professional financial management skills, including financial planning and forecasting, investment analysis, management accounting and financial governance.
  • High level of analytical skills to examine, manage and present complex financial management information at senior management and Member level.
