Queen Mary University of London are seeking to appoint to the post of Health & Safety Manager (Science & Engineering) and Chemical Safety Adviser.


As postholder you will have responsibility for providing a comprehensive health and safety service to the Faculty of Science & Engineering.

A significant part of the role will be concerned with ensuring that the health & safety risks arising from Science& Engineering operations are identified and managed appropriately.

Additionally, you will provide comprehensive chemical safety advice and carry out the role of non-ionising Radiation Protection Officer across the university.

The Faculty of Science and Engineering


Queen Mary has a distinguished tradition in science and engineering and was one of the first UK universities to establish engineering, computer science, chemistry, and materials departments.

The Faculty today provides research and teaching excellence acrossengineering, science and mathematics in five academic Schools (Biological and Behavioural Sciences, Physical and Chemical Sciences, Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, Engineering and Materials Science, and Mathematical Sciences), with diverse teachingprogrammes that include: Psychology, Mathematics with Finance and Accounting, Materials and Design, and Digital Audio and Music Systems Engineering.


The Health and Safety Directorate


Queen Mary University of London's activities are very diverse, leading to a complex role for the health and safety advisory staff.

The function of the Health and Safety Directorate is to provide health, safety and fire safety advice, support, monitoringand training to enable Queen Mary to achieve compliance with health and safety legislation and promote a positive health and safety culture.
