The Role
The Legal Counsel is a member of Financing
LEGAL and provides effective and timely legal advice, transaction assistance and project work for the businesses and functions of Global Banking and the lending activities of Capital Markets in BNPP London Branch, as well as, where relevant, providing advice to other entities of the BNPP Group on matters of English law relating to Financing Activities, daily banking, cash management and corporate finance.
The Responsibilities
- Provision of effective and timely legal advice to the Global Banking businesses and the lending activities of Capital Markets and functions within BNPP London Branch including:
- Assisting in the drafting, negotiation and review of legal documents and execution aspects of transactions.
- Assisting in providing legal advice in the context of transactions.
- Provision of legal advice and support on Financing Activities, daily banking, cash management and corporate finance, under the supervision of more senior lawyers as appropriate.
- Supervision of external lawyers on transactions.
- Provision of legal advice and support on English law matters to other entities and locations within the BNP Paribas Group.
- Assisting with the provision of advice, including in relation to TACs / NACs (Transaction Approval and New Activity Committees) and dealing with queries from our stakeholders in the bank, under supervision of more senior lawyers as appropriate.
- Participating actively in all relevant initiatives of Financing
LEGAL, particularly those aimed at standardisation and simplification of processes and mutualisation of resources and knowhow. - Assisting
LEGAL UK and Financing
LEGAL initiatives as to training, knowhow preparation and expertise sharing, and participating in the effective rollout and use of crossborder IT tools and systems including SharePoint, Matter Management and others. - Raising legal risks within the scope of Financing
LEGAL activity, including the accurate reporting of risks in the SARA system where required; assisting as required on matters relating to permanent control topics covered by
LEGAL UK or Financing
LEGAL. - Generally responding to any requests of
LEGAL UK or Financing
LEGAL management teams for assistance on transactional or nontransactional matters. - Overseeing the work of any trainees within the team.
