Avid personnel is currently in search for a PLC (Automation) Engineer to join our client at their site in Runcorn.


The role:

  • Providing support to the Engineering Manager and the rest of the engineering team.
  • Work on technical development for the department and business.
  • Use the existing systems and processes and project lead and involvement in project work.
  • Maintaining constant compliance with both company and legislative standards.
  • Perform maintenance tasks, including preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance
  • Performing continuous improvement activities
  • Make modifications to current programs to ensure optimized operation of PLC controlled production equipment
  • Oversee PLC /Controls related upgrades or improvements
  • Ensure electrical drawings are updated after any modifications
  • Backup all PLC & HMI Software
  • Fault finding, modification and programming experience on PLC's
  • Active involvement with process improvements for the reduction of downtime and cost.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team to achieve common goals
  • Provide engineering innovations that will improve process control and product quality.
  • Maintain a current awareness of the latest technologies in mechanical, electrical, control, and automation systems.
  • Have experience with and detailed knowledge of PLC's, SCADA and HMI system
  • Rockwell experience is essential, SLC500 would be beneficial.
  • Practical experience in functional and technical design and installation in automation, Process Control or Manufacturing Execution Systems as an Engineer
  • Ability to lead technical activities to meet timing and budgetary targets.
  • Ability to recommend and carry out Engineering / Production projects to correct issues and improve and optimize site performance
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • A working knowledge of manufacturing processes and improvement strategies.
  • Forward thinking and driven to implement change that results in sustainable improvement
