An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, motivated and innovative Assistant Practitioner, to join the team on Teifi Ward in Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen.


Teifi is a 30 bed ward which looks after patients with a variety of trauma orthopaedic injuries and conditions who are admitted as emergency cases or as repatriations from other areas within Hywel Dda University Health Board as well as hospitals across the UK and abroad.


The Assistant Practitioner role is designed to deliver evidenced based clinical care under the direction and support of a Registered Nurse by following the Health Board's protocols, policies, procedures, pathways and care plans.


The post-holder will be responsible for the delivery of a high standard of person centred, safe, individualised, efficient, cost effective care under the delegated authority of a registered nurse.


The post-holder will communicate effectively at all times and in conjunction with other team members, contribute to and maintain the team philosophy.


The post holder, with the support of the line manager, will identify areas where further training is required and attend in-service training sessions to ensure competency and maintain professional development.

The post requires the Level 4 Certificate in Healthcare (or equivalent award/experience) OR has previously held NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.


Trainee positions would be considered from applicants who are in the process of completing the Level 4 Certificate in Healthcare.

Full time and part time hours will be considered.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales
