The Early Careers Lead will focus on continuous development of the strategy across all programmatic entry points from Early Careers (Graduates/Interns and Apprentices) Significant work has been done to develop the Early Careers strategy for 2023 / 2024, ensuring the foundational building blocks are in place to ensure the programmes are scalable.

Initially, the Early Careers Lead will be responsible for developing and delivering that strategy. Thereafter, there is scope for a longer term strategy to be developed


The Early Careers Lead will:

  • Execute and enhance the existing strategy
  • Manage a team of Early Careers Programme Managers (x3) and an Early Careers Assistant (x1),
  • Leverage the EVP, ensuring the messages are appropriately tailored for Early Careers & Programmatic hires.


Working with senior business heads they will be immersed in the growth plans, location strategy and target operating model, partnering closely with the HR Business Partners, Talent and D&I to deliver a robust, commercial hiring strategy across early careers and diverse talent.

They will work as a valued member of the Talent & Resourcing Leadership team and will ensure connectivity to the experienced hiring recruiting agenda.


  • Key Accountabilities:
  • Enhance and execute the existing Early Careers strategy, which includes:
  • Creation and successful embedding of an Early Careers Sponsorship Group
  • Full Workday automation of endend Early Careers recruitment activity
  • Full review of all assessment materials to successfully identify and assess current / future skill requirements
  • Future Skill identification and development of those skills through Early Career programmes
  • Raising of M&G Brand through strategic partnerships, events and development of internal & external communication strategy
  • Ensure the strategy remains aligned to both the strategic business priorities, the organisation wide diversity strategy and the end to end resourcing strategy, aligning programmes to every pipeline entry point
  • Generate marketing materials which will resonate with the target market
  • Shape and manage the team to deliver the programmatic hiring agenda
  • With full budgetary oversight, robustly manage costs and look for efficiencies and scale to achieve reduction in spend
  • Lead on the use of technology across programme recruiting, ensuring Workday functionality is fully utilised. Promote Manager selfservice and suggest workflow improvements to reduce admin and create efficiencies
  • Work closely with the Talent team to help position and promote the development offering
  • Focus on connecting the hiring strategy to the organisation's Corporate Social Responsibility agenda
  • Work in close partnership with the Diversity and Inclusion team to ensure connectivity to the wider diversity agenda, supporting their events and initiatives
  • Manage key supplier relationships, ensuring contracts are robustly managed and ROI measured
  • Use MI to provide insights to relevant business SMT's and HR colleagues. Leverage data to shape hiring strategies and approaches.
  • Oversee, develop and maintain the internal and external Careers Page relevant to programme recruiting, manage content to ensure up to date and relevant brand positioning
  • Continue to anticipate major market changes and their consequences for programme recruiting, adjusting priorities and realigning work where necessary
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience


This role creates a fantastic opportunity for an experience Early Careers professional to take the next step in their career.

The role will represent a shift from operational delivery to end-end programme oversight via a small team and execution of the strategic plan.


As such, you will have:

  • Some management experience providing support, guidance and direction to a small team
  • Significant experience of both Early Careers/Programme recruiting and programme management at an operational level, with strong ability to support in strategic thinking and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Extensive knowledge of the early careers market including experience running endend graduate, internship and apprentice programmes ideally within the financial services sector. This experience must be full lifecycle from attraction, ev
