Four exciting opportunities have arisen to join the Cancer Support Services Team which supports the pathway management for patients on a fast track/cancer pathway over eleven cancer services.


The MDT Co-ordinator will provide comprehensive administrative duties to support and cover the Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs) and ensure the effective management of accurate and timely data to enable clinical decision-making at MDT meetings when required.

The post-holder will coordinate, proactively manage and track patients against the National Cancer Waiting Times Standards.

Summary of most important Experience/Skills/Qualifications required:

You will require experience in efficient typing, working in a customer/patient-focused environment, excellent communication, good organisation and interpersonal skills and have the necessary confidence and competence to work with a wide range of professional staff, internal departments and external organisations.

Flexibility and aptitude to work in a fast paced department is important.


The successful applicants will have experience of data inputting using Patient Information Management systems (EPR, PAS, PPM or alternative) and have an understanding of information governance.


  • Coordination and management of the MDT meetings ensuring that dates and venues for the weekly meetings are booked for the full year and that all MDT members are aware of the details for the meetings.
  • Ensuring all new cancer patients are tracked and highlighted for discussion at MDT meetings
  • Ensure onward referrals are made in a timely manner following MDT meetings.
  • Record patient information from Trust data recording systems where necessary
  • Ensure all 2 week wait referred patients are tracked following their first outpatient appointment.
  • Ensure the PPM Database system is updated daily and key events are chased and recorded as soon as possible.
  • Ensure that information for Health and Social Care Information Centre audits and COSD is complete
  • Monitor the patients' progress on the pathway and check daily to ensure that escalation points are adhered to and targets achieved.
  • Ensure patients are booked into next events in line with local standards
  • Ensure that patient pathway adjustments are implemented as appropriate in line with national cancer guidance.
  • Liaise with other departments and other organisations to ensure that investigations, opinions and treatments are sought in a timely fashion.
  • Identify breaches via the tracking systems and ensure all breaches are identified
  • Keep on record all breach forms and reasons for breaches for future audits
  • Supervise MDT Assistants
  • Train and supervise members of staff
  • Ensure there is adequate cover during periods of absence
