Exstent Limited has a developed the ExoVasc Personalised External Aortic Root Support, a revolutionary device, designed to manage aortic dilation in people with Marfan syndrome and related genetic conditions.

More than 600 patients have now received their ExoVasc support and its effectiveness is proven by a total of over 2,000 patient-years' experience gained during the past 18 years.

The Senior Production Operative is responsible for producing ExoVasc Implants, their sterilisation, packaging and shipping in accordance with the processes described in the Exstent Quality System.

Part of this work will be performed in a clean manufacturing area within the Exstent facility.

The Senior Production Operative is a full-time position and will be based within the Tewkesbury office of Exstent Limited. The Senior Production Operative will report to the Managing Director.


Detailed Responsibilities:

1) Adherence to Exstent's Manufacturing Processes required to manufacture an ExoVasc Implant:
a) Review CT scans of patients aorta and pulmonary artery to check adherence to Exstent's scanning protocol.

b) Establish an origin in the CT scan using CT imaging software, to enable creation of a 3D CAD model of the anatomy.

c) Using bespoke software, create a 3D CAD model of the patient's aorta.

d) Review the resultant 3D CAD models and their associated reports against the CT data to confirm that the CAD model represents the vascular anatomy.

e) Inspecting the 3D printed CAD model (ExoVasc former) upon receipt against the CAD model

f) Cutting fabric to the required dimensions from the roll goods or panels, pinning, tacking, machine hemming to specifically sized rectangular têxtile sheets.

g) Closing said sheets into tubular blanks with a chain stitch (using a Complett 250L) cup seamer.

h) Washing and drying the ExoVasc Former and Blank

i) Packaging and Sterilisation of the Exovasc Former and Implant

j) Shipment of the ExoVasc Implant

2) Follows Exstent's procedures with regards to the maintenance and operation of the clean room and equipment used in the manufacture of ExoVasc Implant.

3) Observing all necessary instructions in respect of clothing, shoes, coveralls, and hand washing to safely work within the Exstent Clean Manufacturing area. (Full training will be provided).

4) Ensuring that all manufacturing documentation is completed and stored in the correct location.

5) Liaise with customers and distributors to receive and process orders and patient data required for the production of the ExoVasc Implant

6) Monitoring the equipment used as well as alerting the Managing Director and Production Lead to any maintenance issues or supply requirements.

7) Works with the Production Lead, Managing Director and Technical Director on manufacturing Continuous Improvement Activities


Personnel Specification
a) A focussed and positive personality with an understanding of manufacturing processing techniques able to work enthusiastically and effectively within a small team engaged in a demanding but particularly worthwhile activity.

b) Prior experience of working in a controlled manufacturing environment would be an advantage.

c) Sewing Machinist skills would be an advantage but not a pre-requisite

d) A good level of computer literacy, as the role requires completing data input files, filing patient data and manipulating digital images.

e) A high level of conscientiousness and an ability to work with attention to detail.

f) Ability to communicate effectively with other members of the in-house team.
