An exciting opportunity to join our paediatric team has become available, we're looking for a full time receptionist to work on our receptionist desk, that person will be a friendly welcoming face for our patients and their visitors coming to their appointment.

The working pattern is Monday - Friday, shift timings ideally.

Providing comprehensive, efficient and reliable admin support for our medical and nursing teams.

Handling patient enquiries via telephone and in person, booking appointments, clinic preparation and other ad hoc tasks that come their way.


The receptionist will work in close partnership with the medical, nursing and administration staff to ensure the smooth running of the outpatients' department.

Main Duties of Role

  • As the receptionist in clinic; promote a friendly and welcoming environment to all visitors and patients attending clinic.
  • Preparation of hospital notes for outpatient appointments and ensuring that referral letters are available for the appointment.
  • To receive phone calls to the clinic; to take initial action; to liaise with other staff within the Department and Trust as appropriate.
  • To check patients in and out of clinics using the Trust IT system.
  • Responsible for making follow-up clinic appointments (where appropriate) and informing the patient of this verbally and in writing.
  • Responsible for keeping the work environment safe and organised
  • Booking transport and/or interpreters for patients where required
  • To assist with the administrative running of the clinic ordering of stationery, photocopying, scanning, filing and other general clerical tasks as required.
  • To assist in support and training of new staff where appropriate
  • To use own initiative when requested by line manager in the management of work processes
  • Be responsible for management of own workload and have the ability to escalate concerns to line manager.
