GP Practice Counsellor (8 hours a week part-time)

Muirhouse Medical Group, a friendly and thriving GP partnership practice, situated in north west Edinburgh with 20,000 patients, is looking for an in-house, part-time Counsellor to work 8 hours a week alongside our Senior Counsellor.

Requirements:

Registered Counsellor with BACP/COSCA/NCPS or UKCP
Minimum of one year's posttraining experience
Disclosure clearance
Experience of working with clients on a shortterm basis
Willingness and ability to see patients fortnightly (Muirhouse working practice)
Deliver 6 clinical appts per week with 2 hours for admin/supervision/mentorship meetings
Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
Ability to conduct own administration and familiarity with IT systems including Word and Excel and willingness to work with NHS Lothian patient management information systems
Ability to liaise with appropriate referrers if risk issues are identified
Have own Professional Indemnity insurance
Ability to mentor a Trainee Counsellor on placement

Desirable

Health service experience
Familiarity of issues within an area of multiple deprivation
Experience of working with people on the margins of society
Knowledge of other counselling & welfare services (for signposting)
