DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Corporate Relations Division is responsible for promoting and protecting the Channel 4 brand and works seamlessly across the organisation.
The Director of Corporate Relations leads a strategic, aligned and proactive function bringing together Corporate Communications & Campaigns, Corporate Brand, Events & Engagement, Content Communications (Publicity), Internal Communications, alongside Policy & Public Affairs.
- Reporting to the Director of Corporate Relations, Channel 4's centralised Events & Engagement Team exists to raise Channel 4's reputation externally amongst a variety of different audience groups. The Events & Engagement team supports the organisation in delivering communications through worldclass stakeholder engagement activities. The department operates as centre of expertise, designing, building and delivering a comprehensive events and engagement strategy working across all areas of the business.
JOB PURPOSE
- The Event & Engagement Lead for Corporate & Commercial_ is responsible for building and developing Channel 4's events and engagement strategy across the organisation's Corporate & Commercial operations. They will plan and deliver a regular programme of events and engagement throughout the year showcasing Channel 4's excellence to build the reputation of Channel 4 among key stakeholders. This includes responsibility for identifying event and engagement opportunities, proposing creative solutions and implementing event briefs.
- They will integrate and maintain strong relationships with Channel 4's Corporate & Commercial departments, in addition to regularly working with key members of Channel 4's Executive Management Board.
- The Event & Engagement Lead will be responsible for identifying areas of crosscollaboration across the wider Events & Engagement team. They will also work closely with colleagues within the broader Corporate Relations Division and with Heads of Department across the wider organisation to ensure continuity, strategic alignment and effectiveness.
- The centralised team exists as a champion of sustainability and inclusion, ensuring Channel 4's events and engagement programme complies with the highest expected standards and employs a bestpractice approach to ensure consistency.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You'll be an experienced professional with a passion and strong track record of delivering impactful stakeholder engagement and creating experiences that surprise and delight audiences.
You will have proven experience of working with data and insights to track stakeholder engagement outcomes and reputational benefit to organisations.
-KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Departmental Leadership & Strategic Planning
- Build strong relationships with assigned departments and work closely members of Channel 4's Executive Management Board and with the relevant Heads of Department. Attend departmental meetings, updates and instigating 121 meetings with key senior leadership.
- Proactively implement creative event and engagement solutions and take leadership briefings where appropriate.
Event & Engagement Design & Delivery
- Responsibility for driving the events and engagement strategy within the assigned departments.
- Working with the relevant department, design and deliver event and engagement experiences to fulfil desired objectives.
This will include:
- Event and engagement ideation & design
- Budgetary management
- Supplier and resource sourcing and management
- Technical production
- Sourcing and management of suitable talent
- Implementation of I&D and sustainability initiatives
- Promotion of event and guestlist management
- Postevent analysis
Team Working & Skills
- Work closely with the wider Events and Engagement team to support across the full range of corporate and stakeholder events.
- Alongside the wider team, forge strong relationships across a breadth of support departments in Channel 4, for example Internal Communications, Health and Safety, Workspace, 4Creative etc
- Take full responsibility for direct report's line management and personal development plans.
- Identify and implement opportunities for personal/team upskilling and sharing of event knowledge/trends
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Exemplary stakeholder management and engagement skills, working at a very senior level. A thorough understanding of Corporate & Commercial stakeholder engagement, gained through previous inhouse or agency experie
