Salary - £36,298 to £38,296 per annum

Full Time Permanent 36.25 Hours

The Greater Manchester Shared Service (GMSS) is a partnership between Trafford Council and Greater Manchester Police, which was established early in 2017.

Based at Trafford Town Hall, our aim is to provide a first class, professional, HR and payroll shared service to employees and customers across both organisations.


We are looking to recruit a level 7 CIPD qualified HR professional to lead our fantastic Customer Service Team and help to deliver the GMSS business plan.

The team provides HR, payroll and policy advice in a helpdesk environment for our 20k+ employees and customers.


The post of Customer Service Team Leader will suit an individual seeking a challenge in a fast paced, high volume, customer focused environment who has a passion for service delivery.

You will have a sharp focus on our customers' needs and you will be ready to take this team to the next level.


This is a hybrid role with a mix of home and office based working at Trafford Town Hall in Stretford.

You will have previous line management experience and support the Service Delivery Manager in delivering a quality service.

An ability to interpret policy, regulations and legislation to provide an in-depth HR advice service to our diverse customer group of Police Officers and Staff, Council and Schools Staff, Teachers and Leisure Trust employees and line managers, acting as an escalation point for the team.

Main Purpose of the role

To significantly contribute to the overall effectiveness of the whole HR payroll and pensions service through monitoring of customer queries and providing feedback to teams, ensuring consistency of advice and assisting in the development of improvements and effective training


To manage and effectively motivate a high-quality team of first point of contact advisory staff and Policy Specialist Advisors, planning and allocating workloads to ensure demand and service levels are effectively met.


To be responsible for the delivery of a high-performing query and advice handling service providing expert guidance to customers where appropriate.
