Compliance Officer

Our client, a prestigious and established employer based near the city centre, has an exciting opportunity to join their team as a Compliance Officer.

The Compliance Officer is responsible for delivery and improvement of all aspects of the organisation's legal, regulatory and compliance requirements.

This is a senior post which offers the opportunity for involvement at the heart of the organsation's businessin a challenging, busy and continuously changing regulatory environment.

This is a
part-time role which is completely flexible working between 22 to 30 hours per week (to be agreed), which can be done across the week, or in fewer days during the week.


The Role:


  • Advise the Senior Leadership Team on all aspects of regulatory compliance,
  • Act as Data Protection Lead and ensure compliance with GDPR.
  • Provide support to the senior team with regards to legal compliance relating to Fundraising activities.
  • Provide advice and guidance to policy owners on any legislative changes to ensure that all policies and procedures remain fully compliant
  • Work with the Senior team to advise on, and develop practices to ensure policies are implemented.
  • Maintain the policy review register and accurately record policy amendments, version control, policy approval, schedule policy reviews and maintain an archive of previous policies.
  • Conduct a termly audit of key areas
  • Lead the data protection strategy and advise on all types of data protection issues.
  • Monitor and evaluate data management procedures and compliance
  • Review major contracts to ensure they meet best practice standards.
  • Manage all copyright and intellectual property matters, as well as manage all licenses.
  • Degree level or relevant qualification. A law qualification would be desirable.
  • Experience of legal compliance, whether in education or other industry.
  • Experience of managing risk, whether in education or other industry.
  • The ability to interpret legislation, regulations and guidance and be able to explain the requirements in simple, practical terms to nonspecialists.
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Project management skills to ensure that projects are brought to a successful conclusion.
