Rate of Pay:
£13.90 per hour


After a probationary period up £13.90 per waking hour and a fixed sum payment for a sleeping night (equivalent to the minimum wage rate per hour).

Same rate for weekends and Bank Holiday periods.


Hours and Benefits:


43.33 hours per week as approximately two days and two over nights to fit in with a present team who work on a 24/7 basis (four people in total when up to full strength).

5.6 weeks holiday and access to pension plan. We would also consider a job share arrangement for this position.


Personal Assistant to support a 37 years old male to live independently in his own home and to access the community and participate in a variety of activities.

The young man has Learning Difficulties, ADHD and is on the Autistic Spectrum. He is mobile and very active but he does need some personal hygiene support with grooming and dressing.


He lives in his own house and needs assistance in running his home as well as accessing a wide variety of outside interests.

Financial matters are handled by his family.


Main Duties:


Some examples, which are not exhaustive, include:

  • Enabling him to achieve as much independence as possible in participating in his various activities but noting he should not be left alone in the house unsupervised.
  • Ensuring he has as much control as possible over making his own decisions whilst ensuring that he remains safe at all times.
  • Undertaking general domestic tasks such as laundry, housework and bed changing and general upkeep of the home and some light upkeep of the garden. If he so wishes, to encourage him to take part in these activities.
  • Assist him with shopping, cooking and planning menus.
  • Accompanying him to occasional medical appointments and facilitating him with socialisation and friendships.
  • Seek out new opportunities to be involved in his community.
  • Help him to balance his budget between food and social outings.
  • Assistance in travelling to his activities, by using his car or public transport.

Job Requirements:


Experience and Qualifications:

Prior experience and qualifications in care are not essential.

An enthusiastic, understanding and kind attitude is important and training and shadowing with experienced staff is provided on joining the team.

A car driver with a clean licence is essential.

Note:
There is no smoking permitted in the young man's home or in his company.

The team members are employed by a Trust which has been set up to administer to the needs of the young man.

To achieve this, funding is received from the local authority.
