Description

This role is to support with the review and development of the technical content in NBS specification products and platforms.


The junior author role will be suitable for someone who has a construction related qualification or has recently graduated with a degree seeking to improve and develop their technical knowledge of the construction industry in the areas of construction best practice and specification.

They will support members of the Technical Team to research, integrate and coordinate technical specification content and manufacturers material.

What you will get up to day to day

  • Review of existing authored specification content to ensure that it reflects changes in standards, building codes, industry practice, and technologies.
  • Research technical issues and developments, liaising as necessary with standards, regulations, and other publishers, professional associations, research organizations, trade organizations, manufacturers, consultants, and subscribers.
  • Supporting members of the Technical Team to integrate and coordinate technical specifications, and manufacturer material.
  • Support the Technical Authors, ensuring content updates and development are meeting Technical Team strategic plan and objectives.

We are looking for someone who

  • Degree in a constructionrelated discipline or working towards a construction related qualification.
  • Knowledge and understanding of industry standards and Building Regulations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of BIM.
  • Precise, comprehensive, and technically accurate written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to research and interpret complex constructionrelated issues.

Some of the key responsibilities

  • Update or restructure content to ensure that it reflects changes in standards, building codes, industry practice, and technologies.
  • Ensure that specification content aligns with Uniclass.
  • Work with the Uniclass team to identify new classification codes.
  • Support the manufacturer information teams with mapping products to specification content, and authoring content to support manufacturers.
  • Assist the team with reviewing and responding to feedback from customers is considered and assessed to support or influence the changes and development to specification content.
