The vacancy has arisen as the result of the current consultant leaving the Trust. The service covers 8 boroughs of North West London and is mainly a consultation services.

The post holder will be responsible for clinical work, both consultation and direct work, though any consultation recommendations are noted to be based upon multiagency discussion rather than direct assessment.


While primarily responsible for delivering a quality clinical service, the consultant psychiatrist is also expected to be actively involved in the strategic development of the team and broader services, being involved with the team manager and other services in helping to steer the development of the service in line with the strategic direction of the organisation and local Children's agencies.

The team receive, on average, 10-12 referrals per month.

They work a duty rota to provide a prompt response to each referral and the clinician who initially responds to the referral remains the case holder unless there is a reason to transfer to another team member.

Caseloads for each professional are around 12-20 cases, some of which are for consultation and others for more direct work.
