REED Education are working in partnership with a supportive alternative education provider across ages 4-18 who are looking to recruit a confident Teaching Assistant to work with Primary age groups in Thatcham.

This position as a SEMH Teaching Assistant will be working with students of ages 4+ with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs resulting from past trauma or neglect in childhood development.

The school encourages learners to re-engage with mainstream education and provide appropriate academic support to effectively reintegrate them into mainstream or other alternative education programmes.

You will be working across a variety of ages with students who have either been suspended from mainstream provision for social and emotional reasons, therefore this can result in challenging behaviour.

Experience of working in a similar environment (although this isn't essential).
A calm and resilient personality.
Experience working with special needs is beneficial.

Although this position is open to applicants with a background of childcare, health care, social work, youth work or other relevant employment or personal experience.

As a school who support learners by providing alternative forms of education, whether by activity-based learning, physical education or forest schooling, applicants with a background in working outdoors or with sports coaching have been very successful inthe past.

Driving licence is essential and Team Teach training is ideal but not essential.
