Lead Data Engineer (AWS SQL Python) London / WFH to £100k


Are you a data centric technologist seeking an opportunity to take ownership and build a data platform from scratch? You could be joining an independent investment management firm in a senior, hands-on role where you can make a real impact.


Whilst they're an established finance firm they haven't really capitalised on the data they have and are now focussing on modernisation and streamlining of data within the business with a longer term view to productionise this to a DaaS (Data as a Service)cloud platform for use by external clients.


As the Lead Data Engineer you'll be a key, senior member of the technology management team with responsibility for the design, development and operation of this data platform from scratch.

You will make the technical decisions, defining and documenting thedata platform architecture including the technologies, tools and processes.


You'll be an advocate for the role and importance of data within the wider company, communicating across teams and with senior stakeholders in a collaborative environment that values knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.


WFH Policy:


You'll join colleagues in the London, City office for three days a week with flexibility to work from home the rest of the week.


Requirements:


  • You have strong data architecture / engineering experience, with experience of building a data platform from scratch
  • You have strong AWS experience
  • You have a strong knowledge of related technologies and are able to make recommendations for the best tool for the job e.g. SQL, MongoDB, AWS pipelines, Python, PowerBI, Databricks, Qilk, Tableau, PySpark, TensorFlow, Keras, SSIS
  • You have experience of developing and promoting Data as a business unit within a broader corporate structure, communicating across teams and with senior stakeholders
  • You have experience of designing and deploying production data pipelines from ingestion to consumption
  • You're familiar with DevOps, CI/CD, automation testing
  • You're collaborative and have excellent communication skills, comfortable liaising with senior business stakeholders as well as the technical team
