School Caretaker Needed for Large Secondary School in St Albans, Hertfordshrie - Full time post - Immediate Start - Temporary to Permanent Position.


We are searching for an experienced and dependable School Caretaker to join our team at a busy and successful secondary school in St Albans.

With a large premises and over 1000 students, the incoming caretaker can expect to have a diverse range of responsibilities.


As the School Caretaker, your primary responsibility will be to maintain the school premises to a high standard and ensure they are safe and secure.

Your duties will include but not be limited to:


  • Opening and closing the school buildings daily
  • Performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks
  • Carrying out cleaning duties as required
  • Preparing rooms and equipment for events and activities
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Managing and supervising external contractors as necessary


To be successful in this role, you must possess a high level of basic building skills and demonstrate previous experience working in a similar caretaker or facilities management role.

You must also have excellent communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work collaboratively with others.

This is a long-term temporary to permanent position, working within a team of three, based on experience.
