Aim of the Role
The post holder will work with those engaged on our Traineeships and Multiply projects to deliver


Functional Skills Maths, English and ICT covering levels 1 and 2, providing the support needed to achieve their programme of study.

The post-holder will need to be innovative in their teaching methods and responsible for aspects of leadership within the curriculum.

They will provide a service that aims to facilitate participant participation, attendance, retention, achievement, and progression.

The post holder will provide responsive and efficient information, advice and guidance service to meet the needs of the participants.

The post holder will use their reason, intellect and judgement to work on their own initiative to deal with matters on behalf of the client.

The post holder will be an effective decision maker, who is able to prioritise own workload whilst responding to interruptions.

The post holder will be able to deal with unpredictable work situations and proactively deal with issues that may arise.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Delivering teaching and learning, ensuring stretch, challenge and engagement of students of all ages and abilities. Collation and submission of claims as required to appropriate awarding bodies and partners as required.
  • Planning, preparing, and updating all relevant teaching documentation including schemes of work, lesson plans and online learning materials
  • Designing and delivering engaging sessions, including activities and projects
  • Refer participants onto suitable services and opportunities for the benefit of the individual.
  • Develop an action plan with individual participants to encourage development and progression.
  • Ensure the action plan is reflective of the participants needs and outcomes
  • Assessing, planning, and delivering functional skills to all learners on an individual or group basis according to learners learning needs and requirements
  • Planning and organising functional skills examinations and assessments
  • Provide tailored advice and information to the individuals needs or situation
  • Maintain and update organisational database or record keeping software.
  • Maintain and update participant paperwork and records as required by the funding organisation.
  • Track and monitor client progress.
  • Attend weekly project meetings.
  • Liaise with the Administrator in relation to outcomes and administrative issues.
  • Contribute to the further development and implementation of effective quality processes across the service
  • Co-operate and take part in the Unity in Community appraisal scheme

Additional Duties
There may be a requirement to undertake other duties as may be reasonably required to support

Unity in Community. This may include being the organisation's Fire Warden or Appointed First

Aider. These roles may be based at other Unity in Community locations.
