Our client is currently looking for an experienced educational professional within post-16 education to join as the new Head of Education to manage the teaching function for their Apprentice Centre - a modern 'state of the art' and large, impressive hub that with incremental growth now caters for 1000 learners and 40 Technical Tutors in the heart of Birmingham.

The ROLE

Reporting to the Apprentice & Skills Director, the successful Head of Education will be required to do the following:

  • To lead and manage the 40 Technical Tutors in the centre.
  • Manage the planning and delivery of the curriculum with a good understanding of quality assurance processes in line with current national standards.
  • To assist the Director of Apprenticeship in shaping a best practice vision and direction for the centre, setting out very high expectations and with a clear focus on student achievement
  • To monitor, assess and evaluate the quality of teaching and standards of student's achievement and use benchmarks and set targets for the improvement of the centre.
  • To ensure teaching and learning is compliant with OfSTED, LSC, Awarding Body, H&S and the Centre's criteria.
  • Carry out teaching observations of colleagues and produce written feedback for the purpose of improving the quality of teaching delivery on the HE programmes.
  • Deliver HE teaching to apprentices and commercial students to a high attainment standard and to challenge and motivate colleagues to achieve high standards (also BTEC L3 where required).
  • Advise on the preparation and development of courses of study, teaching materials, teaching programmes, methods of teaching and assessment and pastoral arrangements.
  • Responsible for the selection for appointment and professional development of tutors and nonteaching staff.
