A
Public Order Intelligence and Briefings Officer is required for a permanent position paying up to
£33,449.44 per annum (inclusive of allowances) with British Transport Police (BTP) based in
Central London.


BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year.

As
Public Order Intelligence and Briefings Officer with BTP, you will undertake a unique and specialist role in the recently formed Event Planning and Strategic Oversight Unit (EPSOU), acting as a national point of contact for the collation of real time public order and public safety intelligence briefings which you will then disseminate to all key stakeholders across BTP.

The post holder will be required to identify, develop and evaluate crucial information to support both covert and over policing activity ensuring BTP remain effective at event planning and resource management and responsive to emergency situations.

As
Public Order Intelligence and Briefings Officer you
will be required to:

  • Identify intelligence gaps and develop information to produce actionable intelligence reports
  • Undertake intelligence enquiries in support of operations and events
  • Analyse and investigate information, seeking a variety of sources to confirm relevant and accurate details and build a comprehensive picture to make recommendations
  • Prepare intelligence reports to a high standard
  • Work closely with other departments, offering advice and guidance where necessary
  • Develop partnerships internal and external to BTP to ensure opportunities for intelligence sharing is maximised
  • Provide ongoing intelligence and briefings for escalation during critical incidents or high risk events
  • Maintain awareness of any innovation within the intelligence field which will ensure best practice and implementation of the latest tactics/ techniques

The successful
Public Order Intelligence and Briefings Officer will be required to evidence the following:


  • Educated to minimum A Level in a relevant discipline (or equivalent) and/or proven experience in a role that requires briefing delivery and handling sensitive information
  • Understanding of the NDM and government security classifications
  • Experience researching information from a variety of sources and delivering timely information briefings
  • Experience of interrogating, maintaining and utilising data on a variety of computerised systems
  • Experience of preparing detailed reports and preventing information
  • Experience of networking with stakeholders whilst building positive working relationships
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
