Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual interested in a career in Gynaecological Oncology to join our internationally renowned NGOC department in Gateshead.

Working alongside our affiliated University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne Medical School, we will provide opportunities for you to pursue a Certificate or Diploma in Clinical Education.

You will have the opportunity to develop your teaching skills for 3rd, 4thand 5thYear Undergraduate Medical students in their progressive curriculum with a variety of modern teaching methods and assessments.

Working in Gateshead provides opportunities to acquire extensive clinical and specialised surgical skills in our busy department (with 13 operating lists per week).

There are no Obstetric/General Gynaecology Commitments. A post in our department is therefore unique.

We care passionately about our staff - 'our people' - are the heart of our organisation.

Our vision is to make the Trust the best place to work, and we believe the people who work and volunteer for us make the difference between good care and excellent care.

And our workforce agrees In the 2021 national NHS Staff Survey, our staff told us they would recommend the Trust to others as a great place to work.

While they told us patient care is of course their priority, our staff ranked the trust among the top 25 in the country - well above the national average and outperforming other Trusts in areas such as:

  • Equality and diversity
  • we were ranked above average in terms of acting fairly when it came to career progression or promotion, with nearly 90% of staff agreeing that we treat them fairly, regardless of people's ethnic background, sexual orientation, age or gender.
  • Recommending the Trust as a place for care or treatment
  • Feeling that your role makes a difference to patients
  • Involvement in decisions that affect your team or area
  • Feeling safe at work

The departments provide undergraduate teaching to medical students from Newcastle University in both stage 3 and stage 5 as part of their Women's Health rotations.

Teaching is provided in a variety of clinical settings and the post holder would be expected to provide teaching to individuals, small groups and more formal teaching sessions in addition to being trained as a simulation training faculty member whilst in post.

The post holder would be expected to participate in student induction sessions and assessment sessions alongside Miss Ang.

A variety of clinical sessions are provided within the job plan and it is expected that these will provide the post holder with valuable clinical experience as well as providing an opportunity to deliver clinical teaching.
