Job description:

HM Coastguard is part of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA).

HM Coastguard has six key missions:
- search and rescue
- pollution response
- vessel traffic management
- maritime safety
- maritime security
- emergency and disaster management

Coastguard Resources sits within HM Coastguard's Headquarters and Operational support pillar based at the headquarters in Southampton.

Coastguard Resources supports HM Coastguard in achieving its six key missions by ensuring that Maritime Operations, Counter Pollution and Coastal Operations have the correct technical equipment, clothing, vehicles, protective equipment, resources and associated supply/ service contracts to do their work safely and efficiently.


The Coastal Resources team, ensure that the resources, logístical arrangements, and budgetary oversight is in place to enable the HM Coastguard to deliver its key missions.

Coastguard Resources also supports wider MCA colleagues.


Role Purpose The Coastguard Resources Coordinator supports the Coastguard Resources Lead in the effective and efficient day to day management of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency's (MCA) operational equipment e.g.

vehicle fleet, Uniform, PPE, Rescue equipment, Counter Pollution equipment and support contracts.

The Coastguard Resources Coordinator provides the supporting administration for the ordering and supply of equipment and service.

They will also act as the point of contact for suppliers, contractors and MCA staff to facilitate the supply of equipment and service contracts.

This role will be based in the Southampton HQ.

MCA supports flexible working and operates a hybrid working model between home and office for this role, giving you greater flexibility over where and when you work.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide an initial point of contact and helpdesk facility to the coast relating to the supply of equipment or support services.
  • Dealing with enquiries from colleagues & suppliers.
  • Monitor the Coastal Resources inboxes for queries, invoices & orders.
  • Management, packing & dispatching of stores.
  • To raise purchase orders on the MCA shared service system and support their timely processing.

About you:


To be successful in this role, you will need to have demonstrable communications skills both written and oral with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all grades.


Being organised, you will have the ability to manage multiple and often conflicting priorities to time and to a high standard, acting as point of contact when necessary.

We are looking for someone who is proactive, takes responsibility and can work autonomously.


In addition, a real team player, you will be highly adaptable and flexible, adjusting to the requirements of the role.

You will be computer literate with experience of working with Microsoft Office packages including Word, Access.
